Penny Lee Burkhart

Penny Lee Burkhart, 64, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, October 3, at Chautauqua Health and Rehab, where she devoted over 40 years of her life to her career. She was born May 18, 1961, to the late Earl Burkhart and Rosalee Farnsworth.

Penny’s career at Chautauqua Nursing and Rehab was not just a job; it was a passion that defined much of her life. Her love for her work and the relationships she forged with both colleagues and residents were evident to all who knew her. In addition to her impressive career, Penny cherished precious moments spent with her family and enjoyed going to Bardstown for vacations. These experiences enriched her life and created lasting memories that she held dear.

In addition to her parents, Penny is preceded in death by a sister, Pricilla Kessinger and a brother, Don Farnsworth.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Tabitha Taylor, Anthony Kessinger and James David Kessinger Jr.; sisters, Patricia Allison (Glen) and Pam Smith; brother, David Farnsworth; grandchildren, Serenity Taylor, Paighton Igleheart, James Cowan Jr., Ayden Cowan, Jayden Cowan and Jeremy Goatee; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Penny will be from 2 PM until 4 PM on Wednesday, October 8, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
