Peggy Elaine Snyder, 89, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, August 6, at Hermitage Care and Rehab. Born on October 9, 1935, in Henderson, Kentucky, Peggy brought warmth and joy to the lives of everyone who knew her.
Peggy was a member of Owensboro Christian Church and was very proud of her faith, dedicating significant time to her church when her health permitted. She was an active participant in Bible study and greeted congregants with a welcoming smile for many years. Her commitment to service extended beyond her church; she was a longtime volunteer at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, where her leadership was recognized when she took on the role of auxiliary president of volunteers in 2012.
An avid fan of UK basketball, Peggy's love for the game was matched only by her enthusiasm for keeping her own detailed books and statistics, demonstrating her incredible dedication to her interests. Beyond her hobbies, Peggy's most cherished accomplishments revolved around her family. A devoted grandmother, she made it a point to be present for every game and event involving her grandchildren, showcasing her unwavering support for their endeavors.
In addition to her parents, Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, Willis Snyder.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children; Lisa Ham, Katrina Strickland, and Alan Snyder: grandchildren, Justin Clark, Allan Evans, Keeley Pennington (Mason), Heather Conner Highley (Drew), Katherine Snyder, Becca Payne (PJ), Ally Kosa (Bill), and Brenden Snyder; great-grandchildren, Destiny Clark, Kiley Clark (Kaitlin), Aiden Brock, Reid Pennington, Milo Payne, Kylan Payne, and another one on the way.
The funeral service for Peggy will be 2 PM Saturday, August 9, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 10 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
