Peggy Ann Head, 69, of 2526 Windsor Ave., Owensboro, went home to be with
the Lord on Tuesday, August 8, 2006. She was born on July 26, 1937, to Sim
and Zola Spencer near Whitesville.
Peggy was a longtime member of Third Baptist Church, where she served as part of the Greeter Ministry for 15 years. Prior to that, she was the pianist of Hall Street Baptist Church for 35 years, and her abiding love for church music remained at the center of her lifelong appreciation of many kinds of music. She also enjoyed antiquing and collecting, especially in Early American, Shaker and Amish styles.
Before retiring from Owensboro High School, Peggy was the school's guidance secretary for 20 years. She was a member of the Jubilee Chapter of Daviess
County Homemakers Club.
Survivors include Peggy's husband of 49 years, Joseph Leo Head; her sons, David Carey Head and his wife Paula of Leesburg, FL, and John Eric Lumea and his wife Alisha of Brooklyn, NY; a grandson, Andrew Head; her mother, Zola
Spencer of Owensboro; her brother, Dr. B.E. Spencer and his wife Evelyn of Louisville; and her half-brother, Michael Spencer and his wife Denise of Oneida.
Peggy's life was celebrated with a worship service held at 11 AM on Friday, August 11, 2006, at Third Baptist Church. The service was led by Dr. Dwight Moody, dean of the chapel at Georgetown College; Dr. James Byrd, pastor of Third Baptist Church; and the music ministry of the church. She is buried in
Rosehill Cemetery.
