Pauline Sharp

February 21, 1923 — April 13, 2010

Pauline Sharp, 87, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at the Carmel Home. She was born in Posey County, IN to the late Leonard and Lillian Buchanan Davis. Pauline had been a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church for many years where she was active in the church. After the death of her husband, James W. Sharp in 1975, she moved to Owensboro and joined Buena Vista Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was also predeceased by her only sister, Jean Kleinschmidt in 2002 and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Sharp in 1998.

Pauline volunteered at the Opportunity School lunchroom while her youngest son was a student there. She retired from the Owensboro Board of Education after working as a baker at Owensboro Middle School. She was on the board of the Owensboro-Council for Retarded Citizens and was a volunteer with Special Olympics.

She was an avid reader and her ability to recall information aided her through-out her life. Pauline moved to the Carmel Home in January of 2001, where she was lovingly taken care of by the entire staff. Our thanks go to the sisters and staff for the love and care they extended to her.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Tony Crowe, and their children and spouses, Missi and Bryon Istre of Florence, KY, and Paul and Amy Ralph of Louisville, a son, Jim sharp and his children, Angela Daughtery and Bryan and Mindy Young, all of Owensboro; and son Delmar Sharp also of Owensboro. She left behind 11 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved very much. She loved her sister's children and was involved in their lives as much as possible. They are niece, Carol and Rick Hawkins of Mt. Vernon, IN, nephew, Alan and Terri Kleinschmidt of Bloomington, IL, and nephew, Brian and Melissa Kleinschmidt of Indianapolis, IN. Surviving is also her brother-in-law, Charles Kleinschmidt of Mt. Vernon, IN.

Our Mom loved her family and was proud of all their accomplishments great or small. She will be sadly missed, but she leaves behind wonderful memories of her love.

Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Global Outreach, c/o David and Judy Heady in Haiti.
