Paul Henry Waldroup, 82, of 2429 Southeastern Parkway, Owensboro, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born November 18, 1921 in Williamsburg, KY to the late Charles L. and Dinah Lovitt Waldroup, Mr. Waldroup was a retired machinist for Dover Elevator Manufacturing. A devoted husband and father, he lived in Cincinnati, OH for 52 years before moving to Owensboro in March 2003. Mr. Waldroup served in the 195th Anti-aircraft unit attached to the Second Armored Division and served in the European Theater in Normandy, Northern France, The Battle of the Bulge and Rhineland. He was a deacon in several churches for 45 years, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Owensboro. His hobbies included gardening, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by Samantha, Rachel, Ray, Charles Ivan, David and Earl Waldroup, and Ruth Askins.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Myrtle Stephens Waldroup, two sons and wives, Dennis and Lee Waldroup of Owensboro, and Donald and Nancy Waldroup of Roswell, Georgia; grandchildren, Andy Waldroup and wife Dana of Lexington, KY, David Waldroup of Atlanta, GA, Daniel Waldroup of Roswell, GA, Eric Waldroup of Owensboro, Jonathan Waldroup and Sarah Waldroup of Roswell, GA; one brother, John Waldroup of Berea, KY; three sisters, Mary Banks of Westland, MI, Clara Waldroup of Waynesville, OH, and Ann Barnes of Batavia, OH.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2004 at First Baptist Church with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First Baptist Church Building Fund, or online condolences may be left at www.glennfuneralhome.com.
