Paul B. Stovall, 81, of 1951 Airport Road, Owensboro, KY, died Saturday, September 10, 2005 at his home. The Muhlenberg County native was the son of the late Earl and Eula Mae Vincent Stovall.
The World War II Veteran fought on many fronts in the Pacific Theater including the first wave on Iwo Jima as a member of the 4th Marine Division. He was honorably discharged in November, 1945, and was a proud member of the Marine Corps League and the VFW.
He retired from the Life Insurance Company of Georgia in 1987 having worked as a Sales Manager and District Manager for thirty-eight years.
He was a faithful member of Owensboro Christian Church for forty-eight years serving as a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent, Chairman of the Deacons and the Joint Board, Treasurer, Trustee, and Charter Member of the Senior Ambassadors and Senior Choir.
He was a past member of Junior Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, and Odd Fellows, and had served on the Board of Directors for the March of Dimes, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and Life Underwriters Association.
He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-seven years, Marjorie Forgy Stovall, who died in March, 2003, and a granddaughter, Kimberly Heady Rush.
Survivors include a daughter, Benita Heady, and her husband Richard of Yelvington, KY; two sons, Stephen Stovall and his wife Teresa of Bowling Green, KY, and Chris Stovall and his wife Susy of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Forrest Stovall of Owensboro, KY, and Harrell Stovall of Port Charlotte, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2 P.M. Monday, September 12, 2005 at Owensboro Christian Church with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Field of Honor. Military honors will be rendered by VFW Post 696. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 P.M. on Sunday and after 12 noon at Owensboro Christian Church on Monday.
