Paul Hartley Roberts, 80, of Owensboro, died Monday, March 30, 2009, at the Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born July 23, 1928, to the late Joseph Lawrence and Maude Hartley Roberts in Daviess County. He was the second employee hired at Green River Steel and retired after 32 years of service. He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and a Navy Veteran of WW II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee Roberts in 2007; a grandson, Dwayne Schroader in 1990; and his brothers, Manuel, Lawrence, Roy, LeVega and John; his sisters, Virginia Payne and Evelyn Velotta.
Survivors include his step-daughters, Brenda Jones and her husband, Jody of Maceo, Linda Kegley and her husband, James of Sebring, FL, and Barbara Clements Kirkman, and her husband, William of Owensboro; his daughter, Doreta Schroader and her husband, Chester of Owensboro. He was much loved, and will be missed by his grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church, conducted by Fr. John Meredith, with entombment in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home, with prayers at 6:00 PM.
Visitation Thursday will be after 8:30 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Mother Catholic Church, 601 East 23rd Street, Owensboro, KY 42303.
