Paul Newton Reid

Paul N. Reid, 94, of Heritage Place, Owensboro, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011 at Heritage Place. He was born on May 28, 1916 in Forgan, OK to the late Isaac Newton and Mary Ann Robinson Reid. He was retired as a Management Analyst in the General Accounting Office for the U. S. Government at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, IN. After retiring, Paul and his wife moved to Clearwater, FL for 22 years before moving to Owensboro in 1996. He was a U. S. Army veteran in World War II and was discharged with the rank of Captain. He enjoyed golfing, square dancing and round dancing, watching his grandson and granddaughter perform in the Nashville Follies in Nashville, IN and also watching his grandchildren play baseball and softball. Paul was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, LaVerne Reid on October 7, 1996.

Surviving are a daughter, Sally Emmert and husband Mike of Indianapolis, a son, James P. Reid and wife Sharon of Owensboro, eight grandchildren, Laura (Rich) Perry of Brownsburg, IN, Craig (Jo) Emmert of Paragon, IN, Derek Reid of Owensboro, Halpen (Cheston) Hoover of Livermore, KY, Marga (Jayson Lee) Reid of Austin, TX, Nick Reid of Savannah, GA, Natalie (Zach) McFelea of Owensboro, and Elaina Reid of Austin, eight great grandchildren, Elaina Perry, Gwendolyn Perry, Wade Emmert, Corbin Emmert, Zane Oliver, Zylie McFelea, Xanthe Hoover, and Xaia Hoover.

There will be no local visitation or services. Inurnment with military honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at a later date. Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
