Paul "Jake" Meisenhelder, 80, of 304 Stewart Court, Owensboro, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, December 22, 2004, at his home. He was born April 15, 1924 to the late Edward and Ida Read Meisenhelder in New Albany, IN. He was retired from Boilermakers Union Local #40, a member of St. Stephens Cathedral and an Army veteran of WWII. Jake was a member of the VFW #696, American Legion #9, and he enjoyed UK basketball, yard work and tinkering in his garage.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Meisenhelder; and two sisters, Mary Blunk, and Madge Ayers.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Kay Sanford Meisenhelder; three sons, Joe Meisenhelder and his wife, Joanne of Citra, FL, Mike Meisenhelder and his wife, Karen of Owensboro and Steve Meisenhelder and his wife, Nancy of Centertown; five grandchildren, Cindi Trainor, Jennifer Meisenhelder, Mandy Turner, April and Jeff Meisenhelder, three step grandchildren, Shawn, Chad and Todd Mayfield; and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, George Meisenhelder of Connersville, IN, Joe Meisenhelder of Ft. Myers, FL; two sisters, LaRue Rainbolt of Janesville, WI, Johanna Haller of New Albany, IN; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Monday at St. Stephens Cathedral, with burial in Resurrection cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday and after 10:30 AM Monday at Glenn funeral home. Boilermaker Rites will be held Sunday at the funeral home, with prayers being said at 7:00 PM.
