Paul Marksberry, 69, of Morgantown, KY, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 in Bowling Green from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. He was born on July 3, 1942 in Livia, KY to the late Harvey and Ella Burkhead Marksberry, Sr. He was retired from Johnson Controls in Vincennes, IN as a maintenance electrician. He was a member of the U.A.W. serving as a Section Shop Steward and of the Owensboro Masonic Lodge #130. He was at his best when he had some challenging electrical or construction project to plan and finish. Paul was a U. S. Army veteran having served in Korea and TDY in Vietnam. He was a member of Owensboro Christian Church and was a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed U.K. basketball, boxing, Nascar, most spectator sports, and remodeling homes. He attended Owensboro Technical High School, Kentucky Wesleyan College, Vincennes University and Ivy Tech. He was preceded in death by four sisters, Betty Shelton, Mary Lee Poole, Peggy Jeffers, and Rachel Kirtley, and three brothers, Sam, John David, and Gene Marksberry.
Surviving are his wife, LeAnn Chissom Marksberry, two sons, Tim Marksberry of Owensboro and Byron Marksberry of Evansville, a daughter, Amy Hall and husband Greg of Houston, TX, five grandchildren, Taylor Hall, Ashley Hauan, and Justin, Tyler, and Autumn Marksberry, two brothers, Harvey (Marilyn) Marksberry, Jr. of Russellville and Jack (Joyce) Marksberry of Ohio Co., and a sister, Mildred Crowe of Owensboro, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Paul will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Services will be 2:30 P.M. Sunday, July 17 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Worthington Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Island, KY with full military honors provided by the McLean Co Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday and after 12 Noon Sunday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
