Paul Julius Hicks, 79, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born November 20, 1937 in Daviess Co. to the late Urey and Edna Burden Hicks. Paul was a member of Ridgewood Baptist Church and had worked in maintenance for several local vending companies. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and enjoyed Nascar racing and was a Kyle Busch fan. He also loved watching Westerns, working in the yard, fishing with his grandsons, and U.K. basketball.
Also preceded in death by two daughters, Sheila Beyke in August of 2003 and Faye Vandiver on September 19, 2006, a granddaughter, Linda Vandiver Bailey, a sister, Thelma Cauley, and three brothers, Everett, Ellis, and Paschal Hicks.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Eloise Oglesby Hicks, four sons, Roger Dale Carter and wife Ann of Hartford, Danny Hocker, Sr. and wife Mary of Owensboro, David Hocker and wife Linda of Utica, and Keith Hocker and wife Connie of Owensboro, two daughters, Tammy London and husband Jeff and Kelly Baugh and husband Jerry, all of Owensboro, 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be Noon Wednesday, June 21, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
