Paul Bugay, 93, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, January 8, 2009. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1915 and was preceded in death by his parents, Rose Bruzel Bugay and Samuel Bugay. He attended Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and earned degrees of Bachelor of Arts, Juris Doctor, and Master of Laws from George Washington University. During World War II he served in the Coast Guard aboard the naval vessel U.S.S. Brisk engaged in anti-submarine and convoy escort duty. He practiced law for over 40 years in both the District of Columbia and Kentucky. He was a member of Temple Adath Israel, the Owensboro Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and local ecumenical associations.
Mr. Bugay is survived by his wife Peggy Bugay his daughter Sandra Bugay, of Owensboro and grandson Sean Griffis of Richmond, VA; his son Henry Bugay and grandson Forrest Bugay of Miami, Florida; a brother Milton Bugay, nephews Sam Bugay and Arthur Bugay, and a niece Rosalind Schiller, all of Philadelphia.
A memorial visitation will be from 12:30 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Temple Adath Israel. Burial in Cemetery Adath Israel will be private.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Owensboro Lions Club, Hospice of Western Kentucky, or Disabled American Veterans. Glenn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
