Paul L. Browning, 84, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Heartford House surrounded by loving friends and family. He was born on November 19, 1929 in Logan, West Virginia to the late R.C. and Henrietta Browning.

Paul was a loving friend, father, grandfather and brother. He always took pride in who he was and where he came from. Paul was a patriot, a true American who served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He began working with Illinois Central Gulf Railroad as a young man and stayed with the same company for more than thirty years before retirement.

He was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #696 and AmVets Post #75. Paul was proud to be honored as a Kentucky Colonel and it showed in his selfless love of charity.

Paul was preceded in death by 5 sisters, Mary Bradley, Evelyn Deditch, Lorraine Cartwright, Helen Browning and Mable White; and 2 brothers, Arnold and Harry Browning.

He is survived by a daughter, Pamela Sue Martin (Larry); sons, David "Coop" Cooper and Michael Paul Browning (Karen); a very special daughter-in-law, Peggy Cooper; grandchildren, Zach, Alex and Matt Browning; a brother, Alan Browning and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, June 4 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
Pastor Parvin Phillips will officiate. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 until 8 and on Wednesday after 12 at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
