Paul E. Adams, 86, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loving family, on July 6, 2018 at the Heartford House under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born March 4, 1932 in Hardy, Arkansas to the late John F. and Cecil Margaret Chacey Adams. Paul was just 17 years old when he was stationed in Alaska in the United States Army during the Korean War before coming back home and being dedicated enough to finish high school. He was a Firefighter for 28 years for the Owensboro Fire Department before retiring as Captain in 1984. Paul and his wife Eva Jean were members of Bellevue Baptist Church for 50 plus years.
He enjoyed going camping, fishing, and arrowhead hunting with his wife and daughters for many years as they were growing up. Paul was also an avid hunter and trapper, he actually trapped the first coyote known in Owensboro and it is still on display in the Owensboro Area Museum for all to see. He hosted many a fish fry at the Darnek Swim Club, was a big UK basketball fan, enjoyed taking his family to the Cardinal Drive Inn in their VW van to watch the movies and eat popcorn, most of all he dearly loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, they really put a smile on his face and he was so very proud of all of them. Paul was also very well known on many occasions to dress up as his favorite made up character, "Willy", and scare anyone that he possibly could with silly antics. Anyone who was privileged enough to be a part of those times were sure to never forget!
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Reno; brothers, John, Curtis and Joe Adams; and an infant sister.
Paul is survived by his loving and caring wife of 64 years, Eva Jean Carter Adams; four daughters, Demetria Yager and her husband, Jim, of Owensboro, Paula Fiorella and her husband, Jody, of Owensboro, Karla Moseley and her husband, Tim, of Calhoun, and Jill Fannon and her husband, Buddy, of Calhoun; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; sisters, Evelyn Martin and Birdie Rickard; and brothers, Ernest, Roy and Charles Adams.
