Patrick E. Murphy

Patrick E. Murphy, 81, of 1901 Sunset Drive, Owensboro, died Saturday, September 14, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Stanley, Kentucky on May 24, 1921 the son of Patrick and Connie Byrnes Murphy.

Mr. Murphy retired in 1990 from Southwire Rod and Cable as a strander operator after 20 years. He had also worked for 26 years at Murphy-Miller. He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. He enjoyed reading and refinishing furniture.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Louise W. Murphy; a son, James Murphy of Owensboro; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Murphy of Ridgecrest, CA; two sisters, Mary Jane Clark and Stella Stillwell, both of Ridgecrest; and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at Immaculate Catholic Church, officiated by Father Timothy Sweeney. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2002 and from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
