Emblem

Patrick “Pat” A. Lewis, age 64, passed away at his home in Lewisport, KY on December 13, 2024. He was born November 15, 1960, in Owensboro.

Pat was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His family and faith were the cornerstones of his life, influencing every step he took. He was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Owensboro and gave countless hours to Boy Scouts of America Troop 120, proudly witnessing both of his sons earn the rank of Eagle Scout.

A Navy veteran, Pat served as a Machinist Mate in the engine room of the USS Samuel Gompers AD-37 from 1979 to 1983. It was there that his love for maintenance, boilers, pumps, and electrical production ignited. He dedicated most of his life to power plant work, spending 18 years at the AEP Rockport Power Plant and then at the Elmer Smith Power Station with OMU until its closing.

After the death of his father, Joseph Lewis, in 2015, Pat embraced the role of family genealogist with passion and pride. He not only delved into ancestral records but also made time to visit cemeteries and family landmarks, guiding relatives through their shared history.

Pat was known for his remarkable gift of conversation and storytelling, with an uncanny ability to make anyone he spoke to feel comfortable. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, even if the other person couldn’t respond. Occasionally, he’d chat with his dad while he slept, confident he had a captive audience. Pat had a talent for weaving imaginative narratives when the moment called for it, sharing his humor and creativity with the next generation.

Pat placed a profound value on family, making it a priority to attend every gathering he could, even those with distant relatives, so that his children would understand the importance of standing by one another. No matter what life had in store, Pat remained by his family’s side through both celebrations and hardships. Even when it was tough, he never faltered. His unwavering presence served not only as a guiding light for his children, but also as an inspiration to everyone around him. He raised remarkable sons and fiercely independent daughters, guiding them in Christ and demonstrating his love through steady support. To Pat, home was never just a building; it was the love and connection shared by the people within it.

While Pat would do anything for his family, he wasn’t afraid to express when he didn’t enjoy it. Cut the tags off the couch just once, and you could count on hearing about it for decades. His playful grumbling and candid truthfulness left a lasting impression on all who knew him, a testament to the warmth and authenticity that defined his character.

Pat’s legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, the stories he shared, and the family he so deeply cherished. He will be remembered not just for what he did but for who he was, a man of faith, love, and unshakable devotion.

Those left to cherish his memory and his wit include the love of his life and wife of 33 and a half years, Jeanie Huff Lewis; their four beautiful children, Nathan (Stephanie) Lewis, Sara Lewis, Michael (Katherine) Lewis, and Rebekah Lewis; three grandchildren, Noah, Josephine, and Isabella; mother, Frances Hockgeiger Lewis; brothers, Mike (Terry), Stephen (Tonya), and David (Marilyn); sisters, Diane (Denny) Fulkerson and Mary Wink; as well as many loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a great-great-niece.

The funeral Mass for Pat Lewis will be held at 12:01 pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
