Patricia "Pat" Marguerite Henley Satterwhite

Known for her strong will and unwavering determination, Patricia “Pat” Henley Satterwhite, of Owensboro, KY, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026. She was born on July 17, 1934, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada to the late Edgar & Josephine Henley. Pat grew up with two older brothers, Bill and Bob who fondly called her “Patsy.” She was known as “Meme” to her grandkids, a name she chose due to having to defend herself from her brothers.

Pat graduated from the Regina Grey Nuns Hospital School of Nursing in Regina, Saskatchewan. As a registered nurse, she worked at The Saskatoon Tuberculosis Sanatorium, Queen’s Hospital in Honolulu, HI, Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, TN, and Tanner Memorial Hospital in Carrollton, GA.

While working in Hawaii she met her future husband, Gary Satterwhite, at a beach party in Hanauma Bay in 1958. That was the beginning of their love story which resulted in 66 years of marriage. Pat and Gary got married at Pearl Harbour on February 6, 1960. They moved to Maryville, TN (where three of their four girls were born), then Carrollton, GA, before settling down in Owensboro KY where the fourth daughter was born.

In every community she called home, Pat gave generously of her time. She served on the Board of the Salvation Army, volunteered with Hospice and St. Vincent de Paul, was a member of the Junior League, and spent three years as a reader for the blind. Her deep Catholic faith guided her life, and she remained a devoted and active parishioner of Immaculate Parish.

Pat found great joy socializing and playing tennis, golf, and duplicate bridge earning a Life Master level ranking. She cherished traveling and time with family and friends. A great athlete and avid competitor, she taught her children to enjoy sports, including tennis, gymnastics, swimming and more. She spent many hours carpooling and attending all the many activities for her girls. Among Pat’s most significant accomplishments was raising her daughters, whom she held as her pride and joy.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Henry Gary Satterwhite; her four daughters, Kelly (John) McArthur of Richmond, KY, Pamela (Mark) Boyajian of Seneca, SC, Jennifer (Chester) Thomas of Hanson, KY, and Wendy (Chris) Tymoff of Charlotte, NC; ten grandchildren, Ches (Julia) Thomas, Ben (Lea) Thomas, Andrew (Kristen) Stansell, Carly (Chad) Hill, Chris (Carolyn) Boyajian, Patricia Boyajian, Melissa Boyajian, Michael Boyajian, Dylan Tymoff, and Stella Tymoff; and four great-grandchildren, Kathleen Stansell, Mills Thomas, Elias Hill, and Benjamin Thomas. She is also survived by a brother, Bob Henley of Edmonton, Alberta; and several nieces and nephews in Canada. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Henley; niece, Lynda Legge of Calgary, Alberta; and great-nephew, Stephen Carline of Edmonton, Alberta. She will be greatly missed by all.

The funeral Mass for Pat will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 13, 2026, at Immaculate Catholic Church with Father John Vaughan officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday at the church.
