Pamela B. Adelman, 72, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Coldspring Transitional Care in Cold Spring, Kentucky. She was born in Greenville, Kentucky to the late W.D. Bratcher, Sr. and Pauline Pierce Bratcher.
Pam was a unique and memorable woman the entirety of her life. She graduated from Greenville High School, class of 1971, and was crowned Basketball Queen her senior year. She spent her former years studying English and Russian Literature at Murray State University. Her love of literature and reading carried through her life as she spent some of her most rewarding years working as a library assistant in various cities, even driving the bookmobile for the Owensboro Public Library. Pam had a knack for details and intent, a fondness for finding the perfect gifts and cards for those she loved. Calling her an animal lover would be an understatement as she was always surrounded by pets who were nothing short of family to her. She loved thrifting and collecting trinkets, a passion she passed down to younger generations in her family. Pam loved volunteering for the local Habitat for Humanity, meeting with the Girls of Greenville High School, and immersing herself in her church community. She was a woman of faith who read her bible and prayed daily. She was an active member of Owensboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church for many years, a community that offered great support to her and her family in life, all the way up to and following her passing. Pam’s greatest loss was that of her beloved husband, Gary Adelman. May she finally find peace in her reunion with him.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Lee Adelman in 2001; her brother, W.D. “Dwight” Bratcher, Jr.; and her niece, Cynthia Bratcher.
Pam is survived by her niece and nephew, Andrea Furkin (Barry) and Scott Bratcher; great-niece & nephew, Rebecca Popplewell (Jesse) and Jack Hobbs (Megan) ; great-great- niece & nephew, Penelope and Gabriel Popplewell; several cousins; in-laws, Martha Bratcher, Suzanne Oost, and Jan Adelman; and her two beloved kitties, Poppy and Bella.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, January 24th at Owensboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The private burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville, Kentucky.
