Ozetta Morris Purcell

Ozetta Morris Purcell, 82, of Owensboro passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born December 22, 1927 in Pellville, Mrs. Purcell was the daughter of the late Virgil and Rose McBrayer Morris; was retired from General Electric where she worked for more than 40 years; and attended Owensboro Christian Church. Mrs. Purcell enjoyed gardening and canning, shopping, and most especially loved caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also known as the family photographer and historian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Julian Purcell in 2006, a son, James Purcell in 2006, brothers, Phillip Morris and Marvin Morris, and her twin sister, Rosetta Morris Worth.

Surviving are children, Janet (Ivan) Phelps of Owensboro, Linda (Jim) White of Peru, IN, Marilyn (Ed) Sumner of Smyrna, TN, Jack (Sharon) Purcell of Owensboro, Gary (Liz) Purcell of Clarksville, TN, and Pam (Mike) Knight of Owensboro; a daughter-in-law, Paula Purcell of Greenwood, IN; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ervin Morris of Pellville; and sisters, Dorothy Roberts and Diana Bell of Pellville, and Brenda (Fred) Peyton of Atlanta, GA.

Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010 in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory followed by burial in South Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday and after 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
