Rev. Owen William France, 91, of Owensboro, was welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 6, 2011. He was born on July 20, 1919 in Muhlenburg Co, KY to the late Sam and Lena Skinnerhorn France. On March 6, 1944, he married his lifelong friend and companion, Juanita Case France. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he served in combat in North Africa and Sicily, earning a purple heart for his courageous and selfless acts. Most importantly, Rev. France spent nearly 40 years as a pastor with the Church of God of Prophecy. He and Mrs. France moved throughout the state of Kentucky where he pastored churches in many towns. He also held many jobs during the course of his lifetime, and eventually retired from Houchens Market in Beaver Dam where he worked as the meat department manager. He will be remembered as a giving, caring, and compassionate gentleman and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
Rev. France is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Juanita Case France, four children, Shirley and Tommy Thomas of Georgetown, IN, Barbara Doolin of Owensboro, William Donald "Don" France of Beaver Dam, and Dairl Waine France of Owensboro, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, and a sister, Ruth Gossett of Central City.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 10, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 12 Noon Thursday at the funeral home.
