Ottrell "Otto" Reisz, 89, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday December 7, 2016 at 11:31 pm in the care of hospice with family by his side.
He was born July 4, 1927 in Owensboro to the late Herman and Edna (Henning) Reisz.
He was a United States Navy Veteran on the USS Providence during World War II.
Otto was a lifelong auto body man and was self-employed for many years, and previously worked for Greg's Body Shop as an auto body repair man.
He was a member of the VFW, 696 and a past president of the Rock Hounds Rock Club. Otto loved boating, water skiing, camping, and collecting many things. Volkswagons, bicycles, and rocks were some of his favorite things to collect and work on.
He was an avid blood donor and donated five gallons of blood. He was a charter member of the "Coffee Crew" at the McDonalds on Hwy 54 and a lifetime member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church.
Otto enjoyed life, always had a positive attitude and a quick and witty sense of humor; but above all he loved, playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; spending time with his family, friends, and his McDonalds coffee crew.
He was preceded in death by his son Bryan Keith Reisz in 1971, the love of his life, Jean (Abell) Reisz in January of 2002 and a brother, Norman Reisz.
He is survived by his faithful four-legged companion, Foxy, Daughters: Sandra Payne (Buddy Bivens) of Owensboro; Carol Mercer and her husband Mike of Kirksey, KY; Kaye Johnson and her husband Steve of Owensboro; Sons: Ottie Reisz and Marty Reisz and his wife Marian all of Owensboro. 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 4 great great-grandchildren. Sisters: Jonell Mischel of Owensboro; Peggy Ross of St. George Island, FL; Sue Archikavitz of Waleska, GA; many nieces and nephews; and special friends; Clyde and Marti Thorpe; and Larry Mayfield.
Otto did not want to have a service with sadness and tears, but wanted a funeral full of laughs, and stories of great memories shared.
Services will be held at 12:30 PM Saturday December 10, 2016 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Father Mike Clark officiating. Visitation will take place Friday December 9, 2016 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory from 3-8PM with prayers starting at 6:00PM and 10AM-12PM Saturday. Burial will take place in the Mater Dolorosa Cemetery with full Military Honors.
