Otho Cunningham

Otho Cunningham, Jr., 86, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was born February 29, 1928 in Madisonville to the late Otho and Rosie Lee Cunningham. Otho was retired after 29 years of service with Alcoa Aluminum as an Electrical Maintenance Planner. When he took his job with Alcoa, he started as an electrician, then was promoted to an electrical supervisor, and then finally to his current position when he retired. Prior to working at Alcoa, he was a coal miner in Hopkins Co. He was a member of Crosspointe Baptist Church where he had been ordained a deacon. He was a devout Christian and loved the Lord. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Madisonville. He was a graduate of Madisonville High School and had been in the Army National Guard and the Merchant Marines. He enjoyed boating, fishing and camping, vegetable gardening, and woodworking. Otho was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather, and was a great role model.

Otho was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Hufnagel and a great granddaughter, Sydney Hufnagel on May 16, 2006.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Roxie Cunningham, three sons, Rodney and wife Pat Cunningham, Barry and wife Debbie Cunningham, and Mark Cunningham, all of Owensboro, five grandchildren, Carrie (Jason) Koontz, Christy (Shane) Case, Stacye Lindsey, Jason (Jennifer) Cunningham, and Miranda Cunningham, 14 great grandchildren, Callum, Corbyn, Chloe Mae, and Conner Case, Ryder, Madden, and Kingston Cunningham, Maddie (Cory) Wollin, Delaney Lindsay, Sophia and Shelby Koontz, Jordon and Dyllan Crawford, and Raigann Hufnagel, and two sisters, Joyce Crenshaw of Madisonville and Martha South of Jackson, Miss.

Services will be 12 Noon Wednesday, October 22, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family would like to acknowledge their appreciation for all the love and care his caregivers (Betty, Collette, Denise, Joyce, and Shirley) and the staff at the Heartford House gave Mr. Cunningham.
