Oscar Albert Fleischmann, 87, of Cecelia Court, Owensboro, died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. Born in Daviess County, Kentucky he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Mary Fischer Fleischmann. His first wife, Clara Cecelia Fleischmann, to whom he was married for over 45 years, preceded him in death in 1992.
A retired farmer, Mr. Fleischmann was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. A United State Army veteran of World War II, he had been a life-long member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, and American Legion. He had also been a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Fleischmann helped organize and was the first president of the Knottsville Credit Union, on whose board he served for over 25 years.
Mr. Fleischmanns survivors include his wife, Mary Imogene Fleischmann; three stepdaughters, Joanna Allen of Hawesville, Kentucky, Rose Rosen of Canton, Ohio, and Dessie Clark of Owensboro; five brothers, Paul Fleischmann of Grass Valley, California, Hubert Fleischmann and Urban Fleischmann, both of Kankakee, Illinois, Melvin Fleischmann of Owensboro, and Brother M. Conrad Fleischmann of the Trappist Abbey at Gethsemani, Kentucky; two sisters, Rita Fahrendorf of Owensboro and Sister Robert Angela Fleischmann, OSU, of Mt. St. Joseph, Kentucky. He is also survived by 36 nephews, 34 nieces, 60 great nephews, 61 great nieces, 9 great great nephews, and 6 great great nieces.
His family will receive friends at Glenn Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 6, where the rosary will be said at 6:00 PM, and after 9:00 AM Wednesday, March 7. The funeral Mass for Mr. Fleischmann will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at Immaculate Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
