Opal Lee Schroader Murphy

Opal Lee Schroader Murphy, 86, of Wellington Parc, went peacefully to heaven in the arms of Jesus, on Sunday February 27, 2011 at Wellington Parc. She was born on September 25, 1924 in Daviess Co. to the late Lonnie and Lula Fielden Schroader. She was a homemaker and had been a church member for 63 years and was currently with the Family Worship Center. Her life had been dedicated to her husband of 58 years and her children and grandchildren. Proverbs 31 describes her completely: "Her children rise up and call her blessed, her husband praises her wherever he goes". Her ability to make clothes for herself and her children, cook wonderful meals, and can vegetables from the garden she and her husband grew were some of her greatest achievements. She also enjoyed vacationing in Florida. Fishing in Canada with her husband, sons, and grandsons was another thing she enjoyed very much. Opal will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Harold Murphy on July 27, 2000, a sister, Ruth Demeter, and a brother, Estill Schroader.

Surviving are three daughters, Janice Seaton and husband Ronnie, Glenda McKay and husband Mike, and Phyllis Myles and husband Glover, all of Owensboro, two sons, Kerry Murphy and wife Linda of Olathe, KS and Harold David Murphy and wife Traci of Owensboro, 13 grandchildren, Kevin Seaton, Keith Seaton, Joy Pharr, Melissa Myers, Shannon Thornburg, Andrew McKay, Jonathan Murphy, Natalie Alvarado, Holly Mattingly, Julie Bridgmon, Matthew Vanover, Josh Murphy, and Jarrod Murphy, 18 great grandchildren, and a sister, Lucille Emberton of Owensboro.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 2, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 8:30 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
