Opal Butler Morris

Opal Butler Morris, 85, who has resided in Owensboro for the past 33 years, went to be with her Lord and other family members, on Sunday, December 21, 2008, at Heritage Place. She was born June 14, 1923 to the late Hilary and Lillie Butler in Hawesville, KY. She attended Beechmont High School in Hawesville, graduating in 1941. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and being with her grandchildren. She was also a member of the Maceo Homemakers Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Cletus Morris, and a son, Donald Morris who died at the age of 57.

Survivors include her daughter, Faye Ann Banks and her husband, Jack of LaQuinta, CA; her son, Keith Morris and Becky of Maceo; four grandchildren: Lauren Ann Morris of Brooklyn, NY; Julie Nicole Morris of Vancouver, Canada; Brian Allen Morris of Owensboro; and Goldie Michelle Morris of Fordsville.

Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, at Macedonia Baptist Church, with burial in Serenity Hills Cemetery in Hawesville. Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home, and after 10:00 AM Wednesday at the church.
