Opal Chandler, 77, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was born on March 10, 1942, in Daviess County to the late William Owen Payne and Clara Mae Husk Payne. Opal was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed playing bingo, travelling with her husband John with his work, and visiting the Smokey Mountains. Opal had a heart of gold, and loved everyone, but most of all, she especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Adrian Chandler; and her first husband, Truman H. Payne.
Opal is survived by her husband of 37 years, John Chandler; two daughters, Dara Mayfield and her husband, Darrell, and Donna King; three sons, Truman D. Payne, Danny Payne and David Chandler; a step-daughter, Dana Cundiff; two step-sons, Tracy Hamilton and Derrick Chandler; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four sisters, Linda, Beverly, Alleen and Betty; six brothers, Charles, Russell, Randall, Daley, Mike and Paul; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass for Opal Chandler will be at 11 AM, Monday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Father Ray Clark officiating. Burial will be in St. William Cemetery.
