Oliver Clyde McLemore

Oliver Clyde "Mac" McLemore, Jr., 81, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 at his home. He was born in Rogersville, AL on October 18, 1930 to the late Oliver Clyde and Josephine Elizabeth Grisham McLemore, Sr. Mac was retired from the Firestone and General Tire Co, as a chief engineer for over 30 years and then worked for the PEBCO Engineering Firm where he designed computerized loadout systems for servicing transportation services. He also was a licensed real estate agent for Century 21. He attended Murray State University and then the University of Kentucky where he graduated receiving his B.S. degree in engineering. He was a U. S. Navy veteran having served in the Korean Conflict and was a member of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church.

Mac enjoyed watching U.K. basketball, houseboating, collecting model lighthouses, visiting actual size lighthouses, and spending time with his family and friends. He was past president and current member of the Steeplechase Home Owners Association, member of the Masonic Lodge, an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, and was a past scout master.

Mac was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Alice Gardner McLemore on March 4, 2002. Surviving are a son, Mark McLemore and wife Linda of Murray, a daughter, Cindy S. Thompson and husband Greg of Owensboro, three grandchildren, Jack R. Thompson of Owensboro, Ashley Renfrow and husband Damon and Amanda Tatchell and husband Chris, all of Lexington, two great grandchildren, Julia Tatchell and Isaiah Maxwell Tatchell, both of Lexington, a brother, William N. McLemore and wife RuthAnn of Murray, his sweetheart of nine years, Phyllis Church of Owensboro, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, November 17, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory in Owensboro. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. McLemore will then be taken to Murray following services in Owensboro to the J. H. Churchill Funeral Home where visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday. A graveside committal service and burial will be held at the Murray City Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. Friday.
