Oliver Perry Hawk

Oliver Perry Hawk, Sr., 79, of 5741 Cedarlane Drive, Owensboro, died Sunday, August 20, 2006, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born December 24, 1926 to the late Ira and Mable Staley Hawk in Birdville, PA. He was a member of the Dawson Baptist Church where he was active in the choir. An eight year Navy Veteran of WWII, he received the victory metal and was an engineer 3rd class. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Area on the USS PC 1078. He retired as a millwright from Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company after 30 years, and enjoyed working on his farm, fixing tractors, hunting, gardening, and loved playing with his pet, Boots.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jim D. Hawk in 2000, two brothers, Howard and Earl Hawk; a sister, Marion Hamilton.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Hawk; his daughter, Cindy Baron and her husband, Tom of Sarver, PA; his sons, Terry Hawk and his wife, Amy of Cabot, PA, Ollie Hawk and his wife, Nancy of Sarver, PA, Mark Hawk and his wife, Beth of Sarver, PA, Brian Hawk of Maryland; a step-son, Artie Craig of Utica, step-daughters, Frances Adkins and her husband, Donald of Calhoun, and Marilyn Bickett and her husband, Mike of Whitesville; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann Roberson of Rockville, MD

Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home with burial and military services conducted by VFW Post 696 at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday, and after 9:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dawson Baptist Church, 5880 Hwy 54, Philpot, KY, 42366.
