Ola Sosh Peacock

January 27, 1924 — July 20, 2008

Ola Sosh Peacock, 84, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, July 20, 2008 at her home. Born in Elizabethtown, KY, a daughter of the late Homer Allen Sosh and Ola Holderman Sosh, her family moved to Owensboro where she attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from Owensboro High School. She later earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Western Kentucky University. She began her business career at the former Citizens State Bank, where she served as the comptroller and later served as office manager and secretary-treasurer for Southern Automotive Engines. With her sister, she was founder and co-owner of Hermitage Manor Nursing Home. Mrs. Peacock was a member of Century Christian Church and the Berean Sunday School Class of First Christian Church and the Acacia Chapter 46 Order of the Eastern Star. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Beverly Junior Peacock in 1956, her son, Dennis Allen Peacock in 2006, her sisters, Martha Coombs and Lucille Bailey, and her brothers, Woodson Sosh and Allen Sosh.

Survivors include her sons and their wives, Edward and Martha Peacock of Clarksville, TN and James R. "Butch" and Marlana Peacock of Las Vegas, NV; her grandchildren, Amy Russell Peacock, Edward Allen Peacock, Jameson Burl Allen Peacock, and James Allen Peacock; her great-grandchildren, Zachary Peacock, Alexander Peacock, Angel Timmons, and Mika Watkins; her great-great-grandchildren, Alicia Tony and Macy Tony; her daughter-in-law Sue Peacock of Owensboro; her sister-in-law, Renetta Sosh of Hilton Head, SC; her nieces, Susan Richmond of Hilton Head, SC, Vickie Lau of Boulder, CO, and Betty Jagoe and Yvonne Bailey of Owensboro, and her nephew, William J. Coombs of Columbus, Ohio.

Services, officiated by the Rev. James Westmoreland, are 12 noon Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Order of the Eastern Star services will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Century Christian Church or Hospice and Palliative Care of the Ohio Valley.
