Ola C. Brown

April 21, 1925 — March 29, 2013

Ola C. Brown, 87, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013 in Owensboro. She was born on April 21, 1925 to the late Robert and Mariah Miller in Ohio County, the youngest of seven children. She was an active member of Buena Vista Baptist Church, a past member of Hall Street Baptist Church and a volunteer at Golden Partners, a division of Owensboro Health.

She worked as a lighting craftsman for forty years at Westinghouse where she made many lifelong friends. After retirement she was able to pursue her love of life; family, friends and travel. She traveled the US extensively as well as Italy, Brussels and British Columbia. Her volunteering gave her the opportunity to make many new friends and fulfill her desire to be involved in helping others.

Ola's faith was an integral part of her throughout her life. This led to her involvement in many activities of the church.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Douglas Brown; along with all of her brothers and sisters.

Surviving is her son; Larry Douglas Brown (Jean) of Orlando, her daughter, Lisa Gayle Gabbay (Michael) of Brooklyn; her two grandchildren, Eric Brown (Jessica) of Orlando and Kevin Brown of Fort Lauderdale; two great-grandchildren, Ansley and Everett Brown along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with interment at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM on Friday and after NOON on Saturday at the funeral home.
