O. D. Hazelrigg, 96, died Friday, October 2, 2015 at his home in Owensboro, KY. Born on November 25, 1918, to Daviess County natives Ollie Dawson Hazelrigg and Minnie Wellman Hazelrigg, he graduated with honors from Daviess County High School, attended Kentucky Wesleyan College, and, after 30 years' service, retired from Green River Steel as Chief Financial Officer.
A gardener, golfer, bridge player, musician, reader, thinker and lifelong learner, he was long active in civic and community affairs and especially valued his volunteer work with the United Way, Salvation Army, and Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church.
Hazelrigg is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ruth Miller Hazelrigg; two daughters, Libby Alexander of Louisville and Joan Krebs of Indianapolis; their spouses, Mark Kaser and Bryan Krebs; four grandsons, Jonathan Alexander of Wilmington, NC, Timothy Alexander of Henderson, Andrew Krebs of Chicago, and Paul Krebs of Indianapolis; and two great-granddaughters, Elsa and Anna Alexander-Black.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, followed by a private burial service.
An 11:00 am Memorial Service, preceded by visitation at 10:00 a.m., will be held on Saturday, October 10 at Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Wesleyan Heights United Methodist Church or Hospice of Western Kentucky.
