O.C. Herrington

November 30, 1921 — November 15, 2011

O.C. Herrington, 89, of Owensboro, KY died Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Cynthiana, KY to the late Clarence and Willa Hollar Herrington, he graduated from Transylvania University with a degree in electrical engineering. Mr. Herrington was the owner of Herrington and Associates Insurance a division of Life of Alabama for 50 years and later was the Director of Human Resources for Welborn Floral Company. He was a Free Mason, served in the Army during World War II, was a founding member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Louisville, a Kentucky Colonel, attended Owensboro Christian Church and was an avid fisherman. He was also preceded in death by Hank "Honey" Herrington and a brother, Paul Herrington.
Survivors include his wife Irene Welborn Herrington; daughters, Nikki Herrington Spors (Randy) and Donna Greenwell; step-son, Carlos "Dick" Knight; grandchildren, Charlie Downs (Ellen), Michael Downs (Anna), Stewart Spors (Vickie), Jeremy Spors (Janet), Karri Miller (Norm), John Minnic (Leona), David Greenwell, Leigh Knight Erickson, and Sally Knight Barker (Gary); great-grandchildren, Avery and Katie Downs, Leo and Ellie Downs, Damin and Jaden Miller, Evan Spors, Lizzie and Alex Minnic, Rachel Rahill, Zoe and Garrison Barker.
Services will be 2 p.m. on Thursday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from Noon until time of service on Thursday. Entombment will be private.
