Norris "Wayne" Jones

Norris “Wayne” Jones, 91, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born July 4, 1935 in Muhlenburg County to the late Clyde Thomas and Bernie Gregory Jones. Wayne was retired from Century Aluminum, was a U. S. Army veteran, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Yellowbanks #4168. He enjoyed squirrel and rabbit hunting, going to flea markets, and visiting his friends at the Eagles. Wayne was quite a prankster and loved telling jokes.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Rollie Jones, Thomas Jones, June DeArmond, and Betty Harrison.

Surviving are his daughters, Charlyn Moore (Philip) and Sherry Jones, all of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Ryan Moore (Jaimie) and Cameron Moore (Maleah), all of Owensboro; four great grandchildren, Micah, Rosalie, Emmett, and Lilia; the mother of his children, Sue DeHart Jones of Owensboro; and his very much loved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday, August 31, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11 AM until 1:30 PM Monday at the funeral home.
