Norman J. Newcom

Norman Newcom, 73, of Owensboro, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at his home. He was born December 1, 1936 to the late Ernest and Pearl Patton Newcom in Daviess County. He had retired from Green River Steel and was a Kentucky Colonel and enjoyed UK basketball.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Newcom in 2001, and a sister, Ozzie Early.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Newcom; his children, Connie Troutman, and her husband, Todd of Owensboro, Pam Howard and her husband, Chris of Owensboro, a son, Donnie Newcom and his wife, Angie of New Albany, IN; five step-children, Marie, Shannon, Wayne, Jennifer and Cecil, all of Owensboro; six grandchildren, fourteen step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild.

Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial in Red Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, and after 8:30 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
