Norma Jean Rhodes, 66, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 27, 2008 at her home. She was born at home in Cleaton in Muhlenburg County, Ky, a daughter of the late Eldred Thomason and Mildred Hardison Thomason. She valued the time she spent with CoCo, her best four-legged friend, enjoyed college football and basketball, and was a follower of the Indianapolis Colts. Jean was the breakfast manager of the Sleep Inn and a member of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Mullen at the age of 23 in 1962, and her brother, Lonnie Thomason in July of 2008.
She was the loving mother of Tammy Maglinger and her husband Larry of Owensboro, Toni Gilmore and her husband Fred of Hartford, and Sam Rhodes, Jr. and his wife Tammy of Petal, MS; the devoted grandmother of Michael Smith, Jeremy Smith, Holly McCarty, Steven Gilmore, Stephanie Pierce, Seth Rhodes, and Madison Rhodes and her nine great-grandchildren; and the caring sister of Donald Thomason and his wife Carolyn of Knoxville, TN, Freddie Thomason and his wife Bobbi of Moultri, GA, Kaye Hutchins and her husband Wayne of Livermore, and Larry Thomason of Owensboro.
Services, officiated by Brother Thomas Webb, are at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home, where visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to ARC of Owensboro
