Norma Jean Crabtree Perry, 76, of Owensboro passed away Friday, August 21, 2026, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. The Rockport, IN native was born August 10, 1950, as one of 13 children to the late George Elmer Crabtree and Nellie May Johnson Crabtree.
Norma attended Spencer County High School with the class of 1968. Norma lived her life fighting for others. She helped to establish a Christian Resource Center which provided food and clothing to the poor and worked to educate individuals with regard to resources provided by the state. As a citizen of Kentucky, she continued her community service, working as an Elder Law Specialist and Senior Benefits Specialist with Western Kentucky Legal Services. She visited Senior Centers to provide both information and a compassionate ear; representing clients in Social Security disability cases to ensure those without the funds could procure a lawyer to speak on their behalf. Norma enjoyed flower gardening. She lived life on her own terms, with a strength and spirit that could never be overlooked. Her feistiness made her unforgettable, her fierceness made her strong, and her love for her family and friends made her truly special.
In addition to her parents, Norma also was preceded in death by her siblings, Elmer, John, Virgie, Joseph, George, Benjamin, Betty, Phyllis, and Kenneth.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three daughters, Lora Hester (Daniel Phillips), Cyndi Saunders (Danny) both of Owensboro, and Vicki Lothridge (Sean) of Indianapolis; four grandchildren who affectionately called her “Gram", Andrew Hester, Kassandra Hester, Lydia Roberts (Austin), and Larz Coy (Taylor); 8 great grandchildren, Isaiah, Ean, Camdyn, Adley, Aspen, Elizabeth, Stella, and Cooper; siblings, Michael Crabtree and Mary Ann Dugan; her best friend and sister by choice, Brenda Moit; numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Norma Perry will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 26 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with same day visitation from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
