Norma Ewan went home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2024. Norma was born in Hancock County on January 25, 1932, to the late Leymon and Lena Keown. She worked at General Electric for many years until her retirement.
Norma was very frugal with herself but gave generously to others, whether it was time or money. She took long, loving care of her parents and grandparents and never met a child she didn't love. She could always be found in her beautiful yard, where she cherished her flowers and enjoyed having dirt under her fingernails. Her yard was even newsworthy.
Norma loved attending auctions, flea markets, and garage sales. Her doll collection was only surpassed by her collection of glass. Despite downplaying her cooking abilities, anything she made was undoubtedly gourmet. Norma's memory was enviable.
Norma loved her church, Sorgho Baptist, and took great pride in it. She dedicated time and money to beautifying the churchyard, tirelessly sharing her talents.
Norma's tireless efforts and dedication were a testament to her faith and love for her community. In her passing, we find solace in the belief that she is hearing the words, "Job well done," from her Savior.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Ewan; and siblings, Donald Ray Keown, Jerry Keown, Donna Moshenck, Charles Keown, Truman Keown, and Helen Westfield.
Those left to cherish her memory include her siblings, Glen Chafin, Alberta McKinley, Barbara Burdette, Larry Keown, and Gary Keown, and many loving nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Norma Ewan will be at 10 am Friday, May 31, 2024, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, 900 Old Hartford Rd, Owensboro, KY, 42303, with Rev. Larry Birkhead officiating. Visitation will be from 4 pm until 7 pm Thursday, May 30, 2024, and after 9 am Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cates Cemetery.
Expression of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Sorgho Baptist Church, 3083 KY-1554, Owensboro, KY 42301.
