Norma Jean "Mammy" Belcher, 75 of 4930 Diamond Drive, Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, May 7,2008 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born April 21, 1933 in Dawson Springs, Kentucky to the late Charles and Jewell (Anderson) Lee. She retired from OMHS where she worked in the nursery and loved rocking the newborn babies. She was a member of Yelvington Baptist Church. She also enjoyed visiting her family, especially at the beach, her grandchildren, music, cooking and gardening.
Her husband, Leonard T. Belcher preceded her in death in addition to her parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Robert Shoemaker, and a sister, Patricia Rusgrove.
Surviving are a daughter and husband; Pam and John W. Vanover, a son; Kevin L.Belcher, of Owensboro, seven grandchildren; Brooklyn and Eric B. Belcher, Josh and Ashley Vanover, Amy Nash and Isaac Spalding, all of Owensboro, and Ryan Shelton of Miami, Florida, great-grandchildren; Max A. Nash and Jolie Belcher, brothers; Gerald Lee and wife Vivian of Jacksonville, Florida, Thomas Lee of Louisville, a sister; Charlene Mogg of Louisville, brother-in-law; James Rusgrove of Pawley's Island, South Carolina, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Glenn Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Allen officiating, and burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Saturday.
