Norbert Earl Crowe

April 17, 1932 — May 16, 2015

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Norbert Earl Crowe Sr., of Owensboro, announces his passing. He was 83 when he left this world on May 16th, 2015 to spend eternity with our Lord in Heaven. A beloved husband, father and papaw, Norbert was born in Daviess County on April 17th, 1932, to the late Joseph and Martha Barr Crowe. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Norbert was retired from Martin Marietta Aluminum where he was employed as a maintenance supervisor. He was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Joe & Paul Parish. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, great-grand kids, NASCAR and watching Kentucky Basketball. Norbert lived a good life and was fortunate enough to spend summer weekends and vacations at Rough River Lake where relationships with family and lake friends were made strong. He also enjoyed spending many winters in Florida with his much loved wife, Nancy.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Joe, Robert, William, Doug and Richard Crowe.
Norbert is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Payne Crowe; children, Cindy Thomas(Paul) of Philpot, Sandy Tucker(Mike) of Owensboro, Earl Crowe(Charlotte) of Philpot and Donna Church(Steve) of Whitesville; 8 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Martin Crowe(Shirley) of Owensboro, George Crowe(Norma) of Columbia City, IN, Paul Crowe(Teresa) of Knottsville and Gene Crowe of Owensboro; sisters, Martha Zoglmann(Bill) of Owensboro and Patricia Phelps (Wilbur) of Whitesville.
The funeral mass will be 10 AM Tuesday, May 19 at Saints Joe and Paul Catholic Church. Fr. Al Bremer will officiate. Burial will be at St. Anthony Brown's Valley Cemetery in Utica. Visitation will be Monday from 3 until 8 PM, with prayers at 7, and Tuesday after 9 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Saints Joseph and Paul Catholic Church, 609 E. 4th St. Owensboro, KY 42303, by sharing a cherished memory of Norbert, or simply giving a family member a hug during our celebration of his life at the funeral home.
