Nora Faye Mahler, age 73 of Hammond, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 1, 2011.
Mrs. Mahler has lived in the Calumet area for over 55 years; had worked for the National Inquirer as an account checker for many years; and was a member of the Bells Run Baptist Church. She loved gardening and country music. However, her family came first in her life and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Mahler was a devoted wife, mother and loving grandmother and great- grandmother and will be dearly missed by all her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Robert and Martha Priscilla Hamilton; grandsons, Curtis Mahler and Timothy Taylor and one great grandson, Mar'kee Slaton
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Alfred L. Mahler; children, Nancy (Donald) Taylor, Gayle Gibson, Rodger (Terri Hayes) Mahler, Connie (Robert) McGhee, Bonnie (Tom) Parrish, Martha Slaton, and Melissa Mahler; 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; a sister, Kathlyn Hale; a brother, Luther (Mary Ann) Hamilton; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville), Indiana.
Visitation will continue at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. with burial following in Bells Run Cemetery in Ohio Co., KY.
