Nora Choate Bedwell, 86, of Owensboro (formerly of Earlington) passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born December 4, 1923 in Earlington, she was the daughter of the late Urnel and Eula McGregor Choate; was retired from the Hopkins County Board of Education where she was the secretary at Earlington Elementary School for 22 years; was a member of the First Baptist Church in Earlington and attended Owensboro Christian Church in Owensboro. Mrs. Bedwell was active in the Special Olympics, Kentucky High School Athletics, KAPOS Cheerleading, the Owensboro Bar-B-Que Festival activities. She was a strong, full-of-life individual who was "Mom" and "grandmother" to many in and outside her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Richard Bedwell in 1969 and a son, Richard Allen Bedwell in 2003.
Surviving are a son, Maurie Samuel Bedwell of Owensboro; a sister, Martha Choate of Owensboro; and many friends and extended family members.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at the First Christian Church in Earlington followed by burial in Oakwood Cemetery in Earlington. Visitation will be from 1-6 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory in Owensboro and after 10 a.m. Monday at the Church in Earlington.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Heart Association or to the Special Olympics.
