Nikki Ronning, 19, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Owensboro Medical Health System surrounded by family and friends. She fought a courageous battle against Lupus.
Born June 20, 1988 in Alameda, CA., Nikki spent most of her life in Owensboro. She was a 2007 graduate of Apollo High School and had been attending Owensboro Community College. Nikki and her family attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
She is survived by her parents, Jim and Tina Ronning, sisters, Ceci and Jessica and a brother, Alex all of Owensboro, maternal grandparents; Manuel and Carmel Torrez of Owensboro, and paternal grandparents; Richard and Chizuko Ronning of Utah, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She will be sadly missed by the many friends she had.
Nikki will be remembered as a sweet, compassionate and a beautiful young lady. She could always bring a smile to your face and brighten a room. She would not want her death to be mourned but her life to be celebrated.
She was an organ donor and contributed to the quality of life of others. Her unselfish generosity will give hope where there was none, will save lives when all was thought lost, and in this way, Nikki's vibrant spirit will continue to live in all of our hearts as an example of the brave and courageous young woman that she was.
"To live in the hearts of those you leave behind is not to die." "Robert Orr"
