Nick J. Wink, 84, of Philpot, passed away Tuesday, July 11 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY. Nick was born May 24, 1933 in Daviess Co. to the late Nicholas Joseph Wink Sr. and Sue Helen Keller. He was retired from Green River Steel after working there for 30 years. Nick was a Korean War Veteran in the United States Navy and was of the Catholic Faith where he was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
He was a member of the Daviess County Lions Club, and a charter member of the Kentucky Antique Farm Association. Nick took great pride in his tobacco farming and gardening, loved to collect antique tractors of all brands, but John Deere was his favorite, and enjoyed taking his grandkids to tractor shows. He also enjoyed many trips to the tractor auction in Sikeston, MO with his brother Marvin, brother in law Joe Elliott, sons and grandsons. When it came to everything that Nick did in his life, you would have no doubt he was always giving it 110%.
Nick was also preceded in death by two spouses, Mary Ellen Edge Wink and Ola Patricia Hayden; granddaughter, Kelsey Leeann Wink; sisters, Janet Hayden, Theresa Louise Morris, and Shirley Galloway; brothers, Lawrence Eugene Wink and Donald Edward Wink; and brother in law, Joe Elliott.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Terry Wink (Ann) of Owensboro and Nick Alan Wink (Janet) of Owensboro; step-sons, Steven Simmons (Pam) of Owensboro and Aaron Simmons of Lexington; grandchildren, Nick Joseph Wink, Heath Wink, T.J. Wink, Matt (Ryan) Simmons, and Christian Simmons; sister, Mary Sue Elliot of Philpot; and brother, Marvin Louis Wink of Philpot.
The funeral mass will be 12 pm Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Pat Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 till 8 pm with prayers at 5 pm and Friday from 10 till 11:30 am at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
