E. Nicholas Sauer, 65, of Owensboro, Kentucky passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 03, 2012, after a long illness. He was born August 26, 1946, in New Albany, IN. Nick was a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College, worked as a respiratory therapist for many years, and as custodian of the F.O.E 4168 for 20 years. He loved to travel and to be of service to others. He was an Army veteran, a charter member of F.O.E 4168, served on the C.P.G, the Governor's Advisory Council for HIV/AIDS, was a founder of the Owensboro Area HIV/AIDS Task Force, Inc., participated in many productions on and off stage with the Theatre Workshop of Owensboro, and was a member of New Hope United Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Sauer; step-father, Vernard A. Glotzbach; and two Glotzbach step-brothers.
Survivors include his life partner of 37 years, Robbie Stone; his mother, Pauline Glotzbach; sister, Joan Sauer both of New Albany, IN; brother, Tom Sauer and his wife Jane and niece, Leslie Sauer all of Magnolia Springs, AL; niece, Erika Moorman and her husband Luke and great-nephew, Thomas Moorman all of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; step-brother, Joe Sauer of Georgetown, IN; aunt, Dorothy Daming Patten of Evansville, IN; numerous Glotzbach step-brothers and sisters; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the charity of one's choice.
