Nettie Irene Harrington

Nettie Irene Harrington, 95, of Owensboro passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2009. She was born in Allen County, Ky. on September 1, 1913, one of three daughters. Nettie had lived in Owensboro since 1993. Prior to that she had lived in Louisville, KY and Spring Hill, FL. She was an elementary school teacher in Jefferson County between the years 1944-1975. She also taught children and adults in Sunday School for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband James E. Harrington, her parents George and Clara Dean Oliver, and her two sisters, Goldie Chaudoin and Rennie Farmer. She was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church and the Cross Bearers Sunday School Class. She was one of the last surviving graduates of Louisville Normal School.

She is survived by her two sons, Ron and his wife Iva Harrington of Owensboro and Stephen and his wife Pam Harrington of Corydon, IN, eight grandchildren, Ronda (Tony) Rodgers of Owensboro, Kara (Ray) Roberson of Louisville, Amy Jo (Mike) Green of LaFayette, GA, Hannah, Benjamin, Barbara, Grace, and Hadassah Harrington, all of Corydon, seven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 16, at Glenn Funeral Home officiated by her grandsons-in-law, Rev. Tony Rodgers and Rev. Ray Roberson. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Graveside services will follow at Yellow Creek Cemetery.
