Nerzella Nelson Payne

Nerzella Zezzie Nelson Payne, 95, of 3736 Mark Twain Ct., Owensboro, passed away Friday, September 1, 2006 at the home of her grandson, Stewart Payne. She was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Walter W. & Mary E. Jones Nelson. She was a member of Third Baptist Church and was retired from Ken-Rad and General Electric in 1973 after 44 years. She enjoyed sewing & quilting. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James B. Payne, Sr. in 1936, a great grandson, Nathan Payne on Dec. 13, 2005, and two sisters, Ada Belle Willett and Hannah Aldridge.

Surviving is her son, James B. Payne, Jr. and his wife Octiva of Owensboro, a sister, Minn Ora Johnson of Owensboro, four grandchildren, Katrina Lanham and David A. Payne, both of Owensboro, Matthew K. Payne of Boonville, Missouri, and Stewart G. Payne of Livermore, 11 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 3, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Private graveside services will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Saturday and after 12 Noon Sunday at the funeral home.
