Nellie Rose Ward Payne, 83, of 1522 West Fourth Street, died Sunday, February 16, 2003 at Leisure Years. The Daviess County native was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral. She was preceded in death by a son, Franklin Eugene Payne, who died in 2001.

Survivors include he husband of 61 years, Raymond S. Payne; three sons, Larry R. Payne of Bowling Green, Charles F. Payne of Knottsville, and James C. Payne of Owensboro; one daughter, Margaret Ellen Payne of Owensboro, 3 grandchildren; two brothers, Fred L. Ward and James R. Ward both of Owensboro; and a sister, Margaret Battista of Cleveland, OH.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Cathedral. Visitation is from 3 until 7 p.m. Tuesday and after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
