Nellie Day Eans, 92, of Brentwood, TN, formerly of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Nellie was born September 19, 1923 in Owensboro to the late Isaac Ernest Day and Mary Whittinghill Day.
Following graduation from Owensboro High School, Nellie worked at the Kenmore Light Company, General Electric Company, Anderson's Department Store, and the Baptist Book Store, all in Owensboro. She retired from the Book Store in 1986. She taught Sunday School at Seven Hills Baptist Church for many years before joining Riverside Baptist Church. After her husband passed away in 2009, she lived in Brentwood, TN with her daughter Marilyn and son-in-law Tony. In recent years she attended Covenant Baptist Church in Nolensville, TN. She enjoyed a relaxing and fun six years there with her family, where she was much loved and cared for.
Nellie was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Marvin C. Eans, Jr.; a son, Charles Phillip Eans; and siblings Jerome Day, Mildred Wethington, Robert Day and Emma Belle Strong.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Davis (Tony) of Brentwood, TN; grandsons, Charles Kevin Eans (Noreen) of New York, NY, Gregory Todd Eans (Angela), of Owensboro and Kristopher Alan Eans (Nikki) of Owensboro; great grand-children, Isabella Coltrane Eans of New York, NY, Jackson Milo Eans and Emilia Gabrielle Eans, both of Owensboro, Matthew Carson Eans of Jackson, TN; daughter-in-law, Peggy Carolyn Eans of Owensboro; a step-granddaughter, Amber Lauren Davis of Fredericksburg, Virginia; nieces, Bonnie Richards of Reynolds Station, KY, Candace Holton of Lexington and Robbie Day Boatwright of Lakeland, FL; nephews, Jerry Wayne Day of Elizabethtown, KY, Darrell Lynn Day of Owensboro, Jack Eans of Birmingham, AL and Barry Strong of Dallas, Texas.
The service will be at 10 AM Saturday, May 28 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be Friday from 4 until 7 PM and Saturday after 9 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
