Nellie Rose Carraway

Nellie Rose Carraway, 86, of Owensboro, passed away on September 2, 2013 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital after an eleven year battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born in Owensboro to the late Elbert and Josephine Chappell.

Mrs. Caraway was employed at MPD (formerly General Electric) for many years and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Roger Carraway in 2001 and a sister, Phyllis (Sands) Varble in 2009.

Mrs. Carraway is survived by a step-daughter, Lelia Faye Grant (Bobby) of Albany, KY; a step-son, Roger M. "Buddy" Carraway (Phyllis) of Berea, KY; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; nieces, Carla Mattingly (Tom) of Owensboro and Lisa Sands of Chicago; a nephew, Randy Sands of Seattle, Washington; a great niece; three great nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday at Rosehill Cemetery Chapel. Visitation will be on Thursday from 3 until 8 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. Glenn Amerson will officiate. Entombment will be at Rosehill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene or Alzheimer's Association.
