Nelda Barnett Nalley, 66, of Owensboro passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky with her family by her side. Mrs. Nalley was born April 22, 1950 in Daviess County to the late Robert and Annie Johnson Barnett. Nelda was a loving wife and mother who was always smiling and cooking Sunday dinner for her family. She was first a disciple of Jesus Christ who served her church in many ways including teaching Sunday School and at church camp. She retired from the Daviess County Public Schools after serving the students in the lunch room for over ten years. She thoroughly enjoyed working outside in her garden raising vegetables and flowers. She was "the rock of the family".
Mrs. Nalley was preceded in death by her brothers, David, George, Jim, and Bobby Barnett and her sister, Jo Ann Barnett.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 40 years, James "J.B." Nalley; son, Timothy Sallee and wife Penni of Owensboro; daughters, Shannon Simon and husband Mike of Owensboro, Amy Rager and husband Barry of Indianapolis; eleven grandchildren, Beau Sallee (Jessica), Andi Hunt (Nate), Aaron Remole, Kyle Casey, Michael Simon, Titus, Yonas, Fable, and Justus Rager, Mykayla and Khiry Maddox, Levi Duke, Ashton Randazzo; eleven great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Clark, Wanda Ford (Shelby), Stella Taylor (Eddie), and Pam Greene (Greg); numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express special thanks to all the staff at the Heartford House, especially Robin and Krista.
The service will be noon on Tuesday, March 7 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with son-in-law Barry Rager officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm and Tuesday from 10:00 am at the funeral home.
